Titled, ‘It’s raining cats and dogs’, invitees were transported to the outside in a delightfully choreographed show which saw models walk a quaint set: a Quality Street city setting created by use of scant props and very clever floor projection. Seeing multiple girls on stage at any one time, the label’s mould is unwavering in aesthetic; we see a vision of subtle juxtaposing likes: demure city glamour with a tidy silhouette. The Orla Kiely girl carries an air of naivety about her yet is stylishly aware and one can be sure she has watched every Audrey Hepburn film in cinematic existence (yes, even Bloodline). She is a dream.
Orla Kiely is renowned for her retro prints and use of colour. In her latest offer, the palette is vast and matched with sophistication. Featuring blush pink, dark and pale blues, mustard yellow , olive green and bright red to name a few, we also see her well known print making an appearance in darling shoulder bags and an occasion dress. What stole the show in my opinion were the cat-print raincoats. I concede it doesn’t take much to sway me when I have my ragdoll Ella to come home to. They are an absolute must-have and I’ll be first in line to buy one. Time to start saving!

inally, embracing the climatic state of affairs that overtook much of the country over the first two days of LFW (who can forget the gale force winds and the sea of umbrellas at Somerset House we collectively put up with) it was natural to be consumed by the theme of the show. The choreography of it was simply genius, seamlessly phased into three: accompanied by ditty music, models first walked in dresses (and the odd pair of trousers). The pace of music picks up and is interspersed with the pitter patter of rain drops…and the occasional meow. Yes, you read right! Models then threw on the jackets and in the end sheltered under their Orla Kiely umbrellas as the ‘weather’ (i.e music) turns into a total downpour.
